What Is Zest? Say “Hey!” to the Modern Corporate Gifting Platform

The first known use of the word zest hails all the way back to 1674. Over the past 350 years, us humans have expanded our four-letter friend from its citrus peel origins and applied it to flavors, attitudes, and even businesses ranging from soap to dental implants.

A quick Google of the word will give you a rundown of all things zest throughout history, but we wanted to set the record straight about who we are, what we do, and why “zest” is the most apt word for our company.  

What Is Zest?

A couple of times each year, a member of our team will crack open their inbox and find an email from a curious prospect asking about Zest. But something’s not quite right, and through the power of context clues, we realize they’re seeking a different Zest.

They’re asking about the soap company.

Or this precious cooking app.

And even this buy-now-pay-later tool.

Mixups happen, especially when you’re dealing with a word used in so many ways over centuries, so we typically just respond with who we are, what we do, and a link to the Zest they’re seeking. So, what is our flavor of Zest?

In a nutshell, Zest is a modern online gifting tool.

But what does that mean? Let’s explain.

How Zest Came to Be

Ecommerce — in the publicly-available-safe-online-retail-transaction kind of way we all know and love — has been around since the 1990s, when a Sting CD was securely purchased on the world wide web. Over the past three decades following that fateful compact disc buy, every nook and cranny of the online shopping experience has been engineered, updated, and optimized to adapt to the changing needs and behaviors of online shoppers.
